Who Sails This Ship?
Ginger Collins-Justus started Missouri History and Hauntings in 2006 with a group of friends who were all interested in Missouri history, cemeteries, and ghost stories. Since then, it has become a place to share her passion for history and cemetery preservation, storytelling, research, and travels with others.
In 2012, Ginger created a social media page for her business and began publicly sharing stories from archived newspapers across the state. Unusual stories sometimes about people who otherwise wouldn’t have been mentioned in the news, except that one time they shot their neighbor or met with a tragic accident that caused the loss of a limb or life. Other stories covered places of interest--historic hotels, the location of a backwoods whisky still, or a haunted college. As she began collecting these articles every day, it turned into an addiction, for herself and many of her readers. When not scouring the newspaper archives, you can find Ginger in an old cemetery with her camera, digging through genealogy files, reenacting Victorian era customs with the Mourning Society of St. Louis, or traveling on Missouri back roads in search of an old barn, building, or house to explore. |
