 Bellefontaine Cemetery

Located in north St. Louis city, Bellefontaine consists of approximately 86,000 interments and 14 miles of curving roads. Among those resting here are some very prominent people of historical significance, including Pulitzer Prize winner Sara Teasdale, General William Clark, William S. Burroughs, Robert Barnes founder of Barnes Hospital, the Lemp family and many others. There is a very nice and informative tour booklet available for purchase at the entrance and we suggest picking it up to learn more about the history of this beautiful cemetery. Make sure to give yourself a full day to explore this cemetery because it takes that long to cover most of it!
