Property Deed Information

More to be added soon!!

To begin your search, start with the names of any current and previous owners of the property you are researching. Once you have a list of names, visit your local county courthouse and/or Recorder of Deeds. The Recorder of Deeds office is where you can find real estate records, birth, marriage and death records, and land deed information. You may want to start by speaking with someone in the office about the type of records you are searching for, show them your list of names and they will be able to direct you to the appropriate area to start looking. You will want to search the index of buyers (or grantee index) and make note of any changes to the following: names of buyer/seller, property description - additions and property lines. Double check the information you find with the plat maps available and any family records kept in the Recorder's Office. Depending on your location you may be able to find most of this information online and have the option to purchase it through a government website which will be helpful in keeping a physical record to present to your client.
